The mitochondrial genomes of Campodea fragilis and Campodea lubbocki (Hexapoda: Diplura): High genetic divergence in a morphologically uniform taxon.

چکیده
Complete mitochondrial genome sequences are presented from two dipluran hexapods (i.e., a group of "primarily wingless insects") of the genus Campodea and compared to those of other arthropods. Their gene order is the same as in most other hexapods and crustaceans. Structural changes have occurred in tRNA-C, tRNA-R, tRNA-S1 and tRNA-S2 as well as in both ribosomal RNAs. These mtDNAs have striking biases in nucleotide and amino acid composition. Although the two Campodea species are morphologically highly similar, their genetic divergence is larger than expected, suggesting a long evolutionary history, perhaps under stable ecological conditions.

Comparative Analysis of Mitochondrial Genomes in Diplura (Hexapoda, Arthropoda): Taxon Sampling Is Crucial for Phylogenetic Inferences
Two-pronged bristletails (Diplura) are traditionally classified into three major superfamilies: Campodeoidea, Projapygoidea, and Japygoidea. The interrelationships of these three superfamilies and the monophyly of Diplura have been much debated. Few previous studies included Projapygoidea in their phylogenetic considerations, and its position within Diplura still is a puzzle from both morpholog...
متن کاملAnnotated checklist of the diplura (Hexapoda: Entognatha) of California.
The first checklist of California dipluran taxa is presented with annotations. New state and county records are reported, as well as new taxa in the process of being described. California has a remarkable dipluran fauna with about 8% of global richness. California hosts 63 species in 5 families, with 51 of those species endemic to the State, and half of these endemics limited to single locales....
متن کاملIs Ellipura monophyletic? A combined analysis of basal hexapod relationships with emphasis on the origin of insects
Hexapoda includes 33 commonly recognized orders, most of them insects. Ongoing controversy concerns the grouping of Protura and Collembola as a taxon Ellipura, the monophyly of Diplura, a single or multiple origins of entognathy, and the monophyly or paraphyly of the silverfish (Lepidotrichidae and Zygentoma s.s.) with respect to other dicondylous insects. Here we analyze relationships among ba...
متن کاملBrain organization in Collembola (springtails).
Arthropoda is comprised of four major taxa: Hexapoda, Crustacea, Myriapoda and Chelicerata. Although this classification is widely accepted, there is still some debate about the internal relationships of these groups. In particular, the phylogenetic position of Collembola remains enigmatic. Some molecular studies place Collembola into a close relationship to Protura and Diplura within the monop...
متن کاملMitochondrial Diversity and Phylogenetic Structure of Marghoz Goat Population
The genetic diversity and phylogenetic structure was analyzed in Marghoz goat population by mitochondrial DNA sequences. Phylogenetic analysis was carried out using hyper variable region 1 (968 bp) obtained form 40 animals. Marghoz goat proved to be extremely diverse (average haplotype diversity of 0.999) and the nucleotide diversity values 0.022. A total of 40 Marghoz goats were grouped into s...
